It’s amazing what a difference the weather makes to public transport. In the height of summer when temperatures are pushing towards 30 degrees, there’s nothing worse than venturing underground into the sticky heat amongst hundreds of sweaty bodies. People are crammed into carriages like sardines, unable to find the space to eve take off their coats; you’ll see signs and hear announcements advising passengers to carry a bottle of water with them at all times. Far from ideal. It’s much more preferable to book a London minicab to drive you wherever you need to go; the newer cars are all built with air conditioning so you can travel fresh.

Of course, the best way to get some fresh air when travelling around London is by going on an open top bus - this isn’t very cost effective though. It’s great for seeing the sights and getting some wind in your hair, but as an attraction aimed at tourists, the cost would build up if you chose this as a regular method of transport. Also, you never quite know when the heavens are going to open in this country; he sky might look blue when you set off, but we are famous for our changeable weather in Great Britain. If you do choose to go for this option on a bright summer’s day, make sure you check the weather forecast first.

Choosing to cycle is the kindest method of transport for the environment; there are no harmful fumes emitted and congestion can be prevented by people riding bicycles on the designated routes throughout the city. Since the launch of the Barclays bicycle scheme (otherwise known as Boris bikes, named after the Mayor of London who championed this idea, Boris Johnson), it’s much easier to get around London this way. There are stations throughout the city where you can pick up or park the bikes, paying a small fee for the loan. It saves you money on purchasing your own bike, and also eliminates the problem of storing it safely. However, the weather presents the same issue: it is unpleasant to cycle during a downpour. Furthermore, many people do not feel comfortable cycling on busy roads alongside traffic, and unfortunately accidents do happen.

It seems that the best transport to serve you all year round is private hire minicabs in London. They’re the only option equipped with air conditioning and heating, protection from the elements, space and comfort. Thanks to to the wide selection of London minicabs, the rates are very affordable too.
